She had a reputation ...

She had a reputation of being an avid reader. She thought it undeserved. She may have been once, long ago. Not only she barely read these days, she even avoided to be informed of the news of the world. Every news was prone to be bad, she believed, which was the reason of her self-imposed detachment. She didn't own a TV set or a radio, and never used the internet. She was the social type, had many friends and liked to give parties at her apartment. Often the conversations would revolve about characters or events she had never heard of. On those occasions she would just pretend. She was a happy person.
