When she was a child dad sometimes asked her who she loved most, mom or him. She is fairly certain she never replied and if she did she surely must have been just teasing him. The question did not interest her or made her actually think carefully about an answer, it was obvious she liked them both much and equally. It was not a frequent question but it was not rare either. She wonders now what dad was aiming at with such question, if at anything. She wonders whether it was actually possible he was not joking, whether he might have had some real curiosity to know her answer, to find out how he ranked in her feelings. She just does not know. It is however unnerving to muse about that question nowadays, after half a lifetime of accumulated experience, to discover that she can actually provide an answer, to realise that the flawless symmetry of her innocent love towards her parents was to break forever at some blurry point along the road.
