It was not always easy

It was not always easy to do the right thing. Actually, it was much closer to being always quite unsuitable or inappropriate, it was bordering on the impossible. Not because doing the right thing were actually more challenging or difficult, far from it, it was simply because doing the right thing was something nobody ever even considered. Irregular acting was so widespread it had just become the norm. You could not help it either and smoothly resigned yourself to move along with the flow. You became part of the ruling universal irregularity, oblivious to not being doing the right thing, unaware of even being resigned. Once in a while the situation would strike you as odd and you would then try to deviate from that awkward norm. But the futility of your attempt would strike you equally as hard as you gradually became the only person on your side of the street, hopelessly waiting for the traffic light to turn green. And those were only the trivial, unimportant bits.
