Legal age

My son will be eighteen later this month. Turning eighteen, to him, doesn't mean much. He'll be reaching his legal age but to him it is just another year, another birthday, much like any other. He seems quite a mature person for his age. For my daughter turning eighteen was a big deal. She felt the urge to do something she couldn't do before. Luckily she didn't consider starting to drink or smoke (still hasn't), she had already got her driving licence a few weeks earlier, and the next elections were not quite around the corner. Running out of choices she decided on the spot to become a member of the local video shop. She watched a good many movies that year.

And I wonder, where have these last eighteen years gone?

  1. Lovely anecdote :-) Congratulations to A., I wish him a very happy adult life; and congratulations to his parents, too —what an important and fulfilling moment!
