Mandela's passing was constant news yesterday. Not my intention to sound picky but I have to say that I found the way Spanish journalists covered the event a bit unnerving. Every time there was a mention to the Soccer City stadium - the place where the funeral will apparently take place next week - my fellow journalists could not help adding (with a tad of shameless pride) that that was the stadium where Spain won the latest World Cup. That irrelevant and unrelated information was the gratuitous tag line attached to every damn mention of the stadium. I found it pointless and I told M so.
This morning, as I was pruning a geranium in the patio, dad told me he felt exactly the same.
Oh well.
