Perspective

As realisations go this was a simple one. Simple but unmistakably clear -  he had been training for the marathon during the last two months as if it was no longer needed to show the distance due respect. Humbly he revised his goal, willingly resolving to downgrade his training pace for the upcoming last weeks to that required to finish the race. Else, he was positive of a certain defeat. He just needed to keep a sense of perspective about his aims at running, merely seeing where he stood hardly three years ago. He needed his running pleasure back. As realisations go it was indeed of the simplest kind but it served him the gratifying purpose not to learn a valid lesson the hard way.
