Short-sighted

[ST, Oct 26 (2006)]

Sometimes he thinks, in all innocence, that the efforts in the actions of his peers, and in his own too, are all largely misguided, that precious time and energy are spent on insignificant goals which, for the sake of some mysterious benefit, have been laboriously raised to undeserved heights of relevance and importance. Life is too short to waste that much effort and energy in petty, home-brewed, vanity-driven aims. The widespread craving for irrelevant success is our biggest failure. However, the right choice is not a struggle, the true target impossible to miss.
