Dropped Moby Dick at page 208. The whale hadn’t shown up yet. I wonder how long it will take for the last of my childhood dreams to capitulate. Moby Dick took 208 pages, which Melville filled with weary descriptions, superfluous situations, and non-negligible sentences of corny prose, all the while boring the reader, caught read-handed unable to conceal a yawn.
