People die. No, I didn't just discover this, it's only that people, very close people, relatives, have suddenly started dying. Death has simply become an increasing realization, death has become a social routine for impromptu family gatherings, as weddings or baptism ceremonies used to be not long ago. Each death brings a load of extra questions, a whole new set of doubts and hopelessness, a renewal of your discouragement, it adds further momentum to resignation and despair. A popular TV sports announcer used to repeat that life can be marvellous. He always uttered the expression using the verb 'can', not once I heard him employing an uncertain 'may' or a slightly improbable 'might'. There is of course an obvious catch implicit in such a statement, the downside being that life is usually far from being so, marvellous, that life's a bitch, that life sucks and then you die.
