As soon as they hand you ...

As soon as they hand you the map of the city, and prompted by your curiousity on what may be worth visiting in whatever particular city you happen to stay overnight, hotel desk clerks start drawing lines of possible routes on the map, turning street names unreadable in the process, along with those of squares and monuments, what with their highlighting of such relevant sites with circles and crosses, messing up what seconds before was an immaculate, informative map. Experience has shown me that this behaviour applies broadly in Spain, irrespective of the location of your hotel lobby.
